A massive volcanic eruption struck the island state of Tonga on 15 January 2022. The effects were felt all over the world and here in Dresden. The compression wave of the explosion of the Hunga Tonga ran around the Earth several times and was observed by numerous measuring stations as a noticeable rise in pressure.

Our MONILOG® RISK LOGGER have reliably registered and recorded the vibrations. The data loggers of the EnDaL smart series were able to measure a rapid rise in air pressure of almost 1hPa within about 10 minutes on 15 January 2022, 22:13 CET. The receding compression wave, which happened to us in Dresden on the morning of the 16 January 2022 at 02:35, also shows up very well in this curve.
